Kaan Kirmanoglu is a graduate student in the Mechanical Science and Engineering department at UIUC. He is advised by Professor Kelly Stephani and Professor Francesco Panerai. Kaan was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. He earned his BS degrees in mechanical engineering and physics from Bogazici University in 2020. He is currently working on oxidation kinetics and simulating material response with PuMA software. His research interests include computational modeling of high temperature materials in extreme environments and gas-surface interactions.
