Student Bio

Casey Lauer is a PhD student in the Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, advised by Dr. Jonathan Freund. He grew up in the Northern Virginia area and earned his bachelor's degree in Applied Physics and Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2021. He is currently working on applying machine learning techniques to replace computationally expensive calculations in CFD simulations and develop new insights into the results.
